Brown Bag Professional Development Series -"Strategies for Making the Right Moves"
The Brown Bag Professional Development Series - "Strategies for Making the Right Moves" was created for professionals of color to explore topics and issues which allows the professional to be knowledgeable of complex issues which they may encounter in their respective workplaces. This series is designed to provide strategies to assist the professional of color in achieving success in the workplace. This program is open to any professional of color who works in the business community in the region. This two hour program held over the lunch hour has been designed to give the participants an opportunity to meet key business and community leaders and to receive an opportunity to gain insight in a specific topic. Topics covered have been: Ethics in the Workplace; Leadership and work Life Balance: Mind, Body and Spirit. Past speakers: Steven Cousins (Armstrong Teasdale); Michael Jones (St. Louis County Executive's Office); Martha (Bunny) Mitchell (Fleishmann Hilliard); Theresa Mayberry-Dunn (Grace Hill); Donald Suggs (St. Louis American) and Brenda Newberry (The Newberry Group). One of the program objectives is to allow participants to become acquainted with the formal and informal power structures. In addition, the participants meet other professionals within the St. Louis region. The program goals are:

1) To provide an opportunity for professionals of color to meet and network;
2) To provide a professional learning experience from successful professionals of color;
3) To provide strategies for success;
4) To provide and enrichment experience;
5) To provide an engaging experience while having some fun.
