Requirements:
- Provide information about employment and vendor opportunities at the company.

- Provide information for a directory of contacts at area businesses regarding diversity employment and purchasing matters.

- Provide limited information on a confidential basis to an independent auditing firm, relating to the company’s St. Louis regional operations, to be compiled and used only in aggregate form for statistical purposes, including:
- Hiring diversity (percentage and totals of new minorities hired)

- Promotions diversity (percentage and totals of minorities in newly filled positions)

- Minority purchasing (dollar value of purchases from minority firms)
- Companies are also asked to keep their contact information regularly updated and to provide data on best practices when appropriate.

- Provide information about any noteworthy company efforts to achieve a diverse workforce or to broaden or strengthen its minority supplier network and relation-ships with minority suppliers—for possible use (without company identification) in reports on best practices

Listing on the St. Louis Business Diversity Website with links to your company website. Also listed will be the names, phone numbers and e-mail addresses of the hiring and purchasing contact at your organization.

- By participating, each company acknowledges the importance to the company and the St. Louis community of achieving strong performance in employment diversity throughout the company and in purchases of goods and services from minority business-and its commitment to strive to improve.

- Opportunity to submit a brief summary of its efforts and achievements relating to minority employment and business matters. Each summary can be up to two pages of information about the company, but it should not include any of the data which each participant submits to the initiative, confidentially to be part of the compilation of aggregate hiring, promotions and purchasing data.

- Opportunity to contribute and get credited with published Best Practices. The Best Practices section of the website will be filled with information on efforts that are working at other area companies and guidance no how to implement or expand programs.

- Listing in the St. Louis Business Diversity Initiative’s resource manual.

- Directory of employment and purchasing information – about the types of employees the companies seek and the kind of goods and services they purchase – to help potential employees and suppliers make the right connections within the company.

- Membership to the Diversity Officers' Network

- Membership to the Purchasing Officers' Network

- Periodic report on business achievements in minority employment and purchasing from minority businesses.

- There is currently no cost to participate.

Other Information:

- All participants are encouraged to become members of the St. Louis Minority Business Council (www.stlmbc.org), which provides guidance and resources to build more and stronger minority supplier relationships.

- 2000 was the first of a five-year initiative. Companies are encouraged to participate throughout the project, but each company’s involvement can be determined each year.

- Statistical information will not be published or made available individually, and it will be requested no more often than annually.
